Free sample question: Error Detection
Read the sentence given below and find out whether there is any grammatical error in it. The error, if any, will be in one of the parts printed in bold and labelled (A), (B), (C) and (D). If there is no error, choose 'No error'.
(A) Each of the students (B) have submitted (C) the project report (D) on time.
Show answer and explanation
Answer: B
Option A: 'Each of the students' is correct; 'each of' is followed by a plural noun.
Option B: Correct. The subject 'Each' is singular, so the verb must be singular: 'has submitted', not 'have submitted'.
Option C: 'The project report' is correct.
Option D: 'On time' is the correct phrase for punctually.
Option E: Part (B) has an error, so 'No error' is wrong.
