Fill in the Blanks Practice Questions with Answers

Fill in the blanks questions test whether you can pick the word that fits both the meaning and the grammar of a sentence. The options are often near-synonyms or opposites, so the clue in the rest of the sentence matters most. Read each sentence, decide what the blank must do, and only then look at the options.

Fill in the blanks में सही शब्द वही है जो वाक्य के अर्थ और व्याकरण दोनों में फिट बैठे। पहले वाक्य का संकेत पढ़ें, फिर विकल्प देखें। हर उत्तर में पूरा वाक्य भी दिया है।

How to solve fill in the blanks questions

  1. Read the full sentence and look for a clue word such as so, because, although or however.
  2. Predict the meaning of the missing word before you read the options.
  3. Remove options that mean the opposite of your prediction.
  4. Test the remaining options by reading the completed sentence aloud in your head.

Tips to score better

Frequently asked questions

How do I handle options with similar meanings?

Look at the exact clue in the sentence. Close options usually differ in degree, direction or formality, and the sentence will favour one of them.

Does the grammar of the blank matter?

Yes. The word must fit the sentence structure as well as the meaning, for example as a verb in the correct form or as an adjective before a noun.

How can I build vocabulary for these questions?

Learn words in pairs of opposites and in full sentences. Revise the words you got wrong and write one new sentence for each.
