Error Detection Practice: Find the Wrong Part

In this format a sentence is divided into labelled parts, and you pick the part that contains the error or choose No Error. The ten questions below focus on subject-verb agreement, tenses, prepositions and the use of articles. Each answer shows the corrected sentence so that you can read the right version in full.

इस प्रारूप में वाक्य को भागों में बाँटा जाता है और गलत भाग चुनना होता है। हर उत्तर में सही वाक्य भी दिया गया है ताकि आप पूरा सही रूप पढ़ सकें।

How to solve error detection in parts questions

  1. Read all the parts together as one sentence and decide what the sentence is trying to say.
  2. Find the real subject. Ignore words that sit between the subject and the verb.
  3. Check the verb form for agreement, tense and the helping verb that comes before it.
  4. Check prepositions and articles last, and pick No Error only if every part passes.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a spot the error question?

The sentence is already divided into labelled parts, so you only decide which labelled part is wrong. The grammar rules tested are the same.

Should I always check the verb first?

It is a good first step because agreement and tense errors are common. If the verb is correct, move on to prepositions, articles and word forms.

What if I find no error?

Choose No Error only after every part has passed your check. Do not choose it just because you are unsure.
